"The house should be the treasure chest of life",  Le Corbusier

Welcome to the three garden house, built in 2016 and 2017.

We wish you a stay as happy as those we experience as a family in this house, in a soothing and warm atmosphere, where everyone can in turn isolate themselves or gather around the different gardens.

Heating

Each room has a thermostat to adjust the temperature individually. The thermostat in the cactus lounge (library) is the general thermostat, it sets the maximum temperature of the other rooms.

Parking

It is better to park the car or cars in reverse to be able to get out more easily in forward gear.

Aim for the portal with the beeper provided.
Otherwise a switch located to the left of the garage door seen from the front, at the level of the jasmine, also allows you to open the gate.
The gate closes automatically after a few minutes.

This is the courtyard for parking bicycles.
The door closes automatically after a few seconds.
Lighting is automatic.
A camera films but does not record.
The garage is closed (technical area including household appliances).
An outdoor shower is located on the left when leaving the courtyard and it is possible to dry your towels when returning from the beach behind the outdoor shower.

The utility room can be used for washing and drying laundry. It has two washing machines and a dryer that are intuitive to use. A dryer is also available. The washing liquids are all organic.

Intermediate courtyard
One of the cupboards on the right is open and contains a cordless vacuum cleaner and brooms for light cleaning.
Lighting is automatic.

Entrance

Straw baskets are available in the entrance for shopping at the market (they are the ideal size to be put on the back of a bike). The electric meter is located in a cupboard in the entrance leading to the Dunes garden bedroom.

Cactus lounge (with library)
Instructions for operating the TV are located on the remote controls.
The television in the TV lounge is on an Orange subscription.
To watch TV, turn on:
⦁    The TV device (small white remote control)
⦁    The sound bar (black remote control)
⦁    The Orange box (Orange remote control)

To watch Orange, the Smart TV input must be HDMI1 (white remote) and the soundbar input must be HDMI1 as well.
Netflix as well as the internet is accessible directly from the TV (white remote control of the smart TV)
Movie rental is included in the rental.

Kitchen
The hood goes up and down by gently pressing the on/off button.
ABE pots and pans allow low-temperature cooking that respects vitamins and minerals.

The traditional oven is also microwave.

For the steam oven, do not forget to fill the water tank on the left side.

A juice extractor is in the last drawer under the sink.
Glasses for aperitifs and dinner are located in the low cupboard next to the table.
The exterior light switches are to the right of the kitchen worktop.
The selective sorting has 4 bins:
⦁    Compost: organic waste excluding meat, fish and shellfish. Eggs OK.
⦁    Boxes and packaging for the yellow bin
⦁    Miscellaneous waste for the green bin
⦁    Trash can for glass
The composters are at the bottom of the garden on the left.
Trash cans are in the parking lot.
The trash cans are to be taken out on evenings of passage according to the calendar located in the kitchen drawer under the hob and to be returned the next day. The housekeeper takes care of it.

South courtyard (under the wisteria)
Both sofas can be raised at head level to become lounge chairs.

The courtyard lighting is controlled by the switch to the left of the bay window overlooking the courtyard.
It is possible to walk on thyme.

Hemingway Lounge
Instructions for operating the TV and listening to music are on the remotes.
The television in the Hemingway lounge only works via the internet (no Orange subscription). You can watch Nextfilx, Plex, etc.

To listen to music, you can connect your mobile to the amplifier's bluetooth, Salon Hemingway Sound System.
Before making a fire, do not forget to check whether the flue hatch is open or closed. If the chimney does not draw well at first, leave a window or a door open until the fire catches.

Main courtyard

Two mobile remote controls operate the heaters above the table. These remote controls are in the large drawer under the hobs.
The plancha works with gas :
⦁    The burner is controlled by a thermocouple safety valve with a handle. Also check that the gas bottle under the plancha is open (small tap).
⦁    The appliance is equipped with a valve that locks in the closed position (clearly indicated by a full disc) which ensures perfect safety.
⦁    To light the plancha, press the knob and turn it towards the symbol of the large flame, clicks are produced and sparks cause the ignition of the burner, keeping the tap knob pressed for about 10 seconds to allow cooking. safety engagement. Check that the burner is lit.
⦁    Release the joystick. If the burner does not stay lit, repeat the operation. Then adjust the length of the flame as desired by gradually turning towards the symbol of the small flame.
⦁    To switch off, return the stalk to the closing symbol (full disc).

An electrical outlet is located under the bench in the courtyard on the left.
The switch to light the swimming pool is located to the right of the bench in the courtyard.
An ice maker is located under the plancha (after first lighting, you must empty and throw away the first ice cubes that come out).

Swimming pool
The swimming pool is chlorine-free, filtered by an Ultra violet ray system.

A switch located on the brick bench at the entrance allows you to turn on the pendant lights in the room.
Counter-current swimming is activated by a button under the water on the side of the right width of the pool. It should be turned off after use.

A hair dryer is available in the pool bathroom.
One towel per person is provided for the pool and the beach.
The glass doors of the swimming pool can remain open during the day but it is preferable to close them at night to prevent animals from entering and a loss of energy.

NB: the Japanese bath is not in operation for rentals.

Workshop
Three oil radiators can be turned on to heat the workshop in winter. Please turn them off when you leave.
It is possible to play table tennis, paint or do yoga in the workshop.
Yoga mats are in the white closet.
A badminton net can be installed on the lawn.

Bottom of the garden
It is possible to dry the towels at the bottom of the garden on the ropes provided for this purpose.
The pool-gardening technical room is closed.

Vegetable garden
You can use different plants from the vegetable garden.
In winter, these are mainly aromatic plants (in the vegetable garden on the left, rosemary, thyme and oregano in particular). The mint is at the foot of the rosebushes along the facade. Several sage plants are located in the dune garden. A laurel sauce is in the bottom of the dune garden on the left.

The beach
The largest and one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, La Conche beach, is accessible on foot or by bike by following the road to the left out of the house (3 mins by bike and 10 mins on foot ).  At the fork, it is possible to go right (Petit Bec beach) or left (Lizay beach). Petit Bec beach is closer and more frequented by swimmers. Surfers go to Lizay beach.

A beautiful walk consists of walking up Conche beach to the Baleines lighthouse, having lunch there at the Phare café or enjoying an ice cream at La Martinière before returning by the same path or by the cycle path (cf. . further the Phare des Baleines)

The village of Portes-en-Ré
To go to the village by bike, you have to turn left when leaving the house and then turn right after a few meters on the cycle path. All you have to do is follow the signposts (at the exit of the cycle path, it is shorter to reach the village by turning right rather than left, even if both paths lead to the main square).
A market takes place every morning in summer during school holidays on the village square and out of season on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Several restaurants (including the classic La Bazenne), a bookshop, a bakery, a fishmonger, a butcher, a delicatessen and a wine merchant are located on or near the square.
A Carrefour Contact supermarket (1 Rue des Bossettes)  is located along the national. A mobile pizzeria is also there in the evening (see Restaurants section). As well as a fishmonger on certain days of the week. A drugstore is a few meters before the supermarket.
The pharmacy is also along the national road.

The lighthouse of

Saint-Clément-Des-Baleines

With Saint Martin en Ré, it is the most touristic place on the island. It is possible to visit the lighthouse and to be able to observe the Ile de Ré and the sea from57 meters high. In addition, you can go and taste delicious ice cream at the "Martinière", the best ice cream parlor on the island.

You will also find other shops such as a donkey's milk soap merchant made in Loix.
To get there, it takes about 15 minutes by bike - turn right out of the house then turn right again to the main road and finally take the bike path that runs along the magnificent forest that leads directly to the lighthouse.

The Tennis club at the end of the island

Rte de la Filatte, 17880 Les Portes-en-Ré

3 mins by bike on the village road following the signs to the market square (turn left at the exit of the cycle path).

Please note that reservations must be made by calling 48 hours in advance.

Ars-en-Re

This village is accessible in 20-30 minutes by the cycle path which crosses the Lilleau de Niges nature reserve. You have to turn right out of the house then left, cross the main road towards the recycling center then turn right after the recycling center to reach the Maison du Fier. Follow the signs to Ars-en-Ré. Market every morning in summer.

The House of the Proud

It is an eco-museum located in a vast salt cellar.

The Lilleau des Niges nature reserve

It is possible to cross it by bike but also to walk there, ideally leaving the bikes at the Maison du Fier and following the information signs.
